A deafblind woman from Birmingham has won a national award from disability charity, Sense. On 10th November 2016 Sense held an award ceremony honouring people who have helped other to lead a full and active lives. Sense Awards was hosted by Paralympian gold medallist Steve Bate at the Southbank Centre in London. 52-year-old Susan White from Kings Heath won the ‘Deafblind Person of the Year’ award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to a major new disability centre being built in Selly Oak. Two people from Birmingham are among the nominees for an award from a deafblind charity. Susan White, from Kings Heath, and John Churcher, from Erdington, are among four people to have been nominated for Sense’s ‘Deafblind Person of the Year’ Award. The Sense Awards recognises achievements of people in the deafblind community and within the charity itself.
