Former Aston Villa striker Dean Saunders believes the club have pulled off the “transfer of the summer” after signing John Terry.
The ex-Chelsea and England captain turned down offers from clubs at home and abroad to step down to the Championship and join Steve Bruce’s men.
And while the move may not have the big numbers behind it of other major transfers in the top flight, Saunders says the deal is a real coup.
“Forget Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United or any other transfer that’s going to happen,” the former Welsh international said on Talksport this morning. “John Terry to Aston Villa is the signing of the summer.”
