The weather was no deterrent for thousands of women to gather outside Parliament in London on Sunday as they called for ‘Time’s Up‘ on harassment, racism, homophobia and inequality.
One year after thousands marched across the UK, after Trump’s inauguration, this year the chantings of ‘Time’s Up’, a campaign launched in January by women in Hollywood to counter sexual harassment remained the highlight.
The speakers included Labour MP Stella Creasy, women’s rights activists Helen Pankhurst, leader of the Women’s Equality party Sophie Walker.
Star Wars actress, the late Carrie Fisher’s character Princess Leia was a popular choice for placards. The late actress who was known as a feminist icon and became an inspiration to many protesters who wanted to pay tribute.
Priscilla Rows, who attended the march last year too said, “The Time’s Up movement was the theme of this year’s rally. Also, the message was more clear about equality and not about becoming better or higher than men.”
