Professor Julian Lloyd Webber has visited Wye Valley Brewery to discuss the creation of a new ale to mark the opening of the landmark music facility.

The as yet unnamed beer will be served in a new bar at the Conservatoire.

Internationally-renowned cellist and conductor Prof Lloyd-Webber will be heading back to the brewery next month to work alongside head brewer Gareth Bateman to create the new tipple.

“I am very excited to be brewing a bespoke Wye Valley Brewery beer,” said Prof Lloyd-Webber. “It will be a real treat for students and visitors at the Conservatoire to have this popular local brewery create something special for them.”

The new home of the Birmingham Conservatoire will open in September.
