A Sutton Coldfield gymnast says competing at a Commonwealth Games in Birmingham would be “a dream come true”.

Mimi-Isabella Cesar represented England at the 2014 games in Glasgow and is hoping to be on the team once more at the Gold Coast games next year.
But she admits that the thought of appearing in front of a home crowd would be a unique opportunity.

“Representing England at the Glasgow 2014 Games has been the highlight of my career so far,” she said. “But I was so excited to hear that Birmingham was bidding for the Commonwealth Games and I have been backing Brum right from the start.
“Competing at a packed Barclaycard Arena at Birmingham 2022 would be a dream come true, so please do get behind Brum’s bid.”
Mimi-Isabella’s comments come after a number of sports stars from across the region, including boxer Galal Yafai, took part in a photoshoot in the city to support plans to bring the Commonwealth Games to the city.
Galal said: “I would love to see Birmingham host the games, even though I will be fighting professionally by then.
“I am a proud Brummie and me and my brothers have had lots of support from the city over the years. By encouraging everyone to get behind the Birmingham bid I am hoping that together we can bring the Commonwealth Games to Birmingham and inspire more youngsters to take up sport and change a lot of lives for the better.”
