    Range Rovers targeted in Birmingham

Range Rovers are being targeted by criminals in the West Midlands.

The popular 4×4 motor car is among the list of the top 10 most stolen cars, according to a new study by Global Telemetric.

The police are persuading vehicle owners to install additional security measures to prevent future thefts.

The West Midlands Police Traffic tweeted: “RANGE ROVERS ARE BEING TARGETED.

“This one was stolen in just 40 seconds! Luckily it had a tracker, so we found it within minutes & arrested the driver as the tracker was removed.

“If you own one, please consider adding extra security such as steering locks and immobilizers.”

Andrew Sinclair is the team leader for the Stolen Vehicle Department at Global Telemetrics. Sinclair recommends drivers to invest in immobilizers.

Sinclair said: “We have been urging our customers to not only think about tracking their assets but to invest in immobilizer products such as Shadow.

“Immobilisers are a great way of protecting the vehicle as it gives it another level of protection other than the vehicle key.

“Range Rover owners are unaware of is that unless you double lock the car you are leaving elements of the JLR security inactivated.

“Pressing the locking button twice activates the ultrasonic sensors and activated the deadlocks.

“By no means does it make the car 100% secure but it is definitely a handy tip.”
