This weekend’s Premier League matches saw a minute of applause and black armbands worn by players in memory of the Three Degrees footballer, Cyrille Regis.
Tributes and messages poured in, describing him as a “pioneer” and a “torch bearer for black players in the 1970’s” after his death on 14th January. He died from a sudden heart attack at the age of 59.
