A new club crest has been unveiled by Aston Villa following a vote by fans.

Two designs were drawn up following a consultation on changing the current design.

The results of the supporter vote saw 77% of the 21,500 who took part opt for the a new round version, while the rival gas lamp-shaped proposal attracted 23%.

“Throughout this important crest design process we have listened to the views of our fans,” a club spokesperson said. “As ever, you have done us proud in playing your part.

“We would like to thank all the fans who responded to the initial survey and those who came along to our in-depth focus groups – and of course, thank you to all of you who took part in the final vote, which set a new record for Villa fan participation in a club survey.”

The new badge will be introduced on kits released next summer ahead of the 2023/24 season.
