Investigators are working to find out what caused a fire in Shard End.

The incident happened at 4.50pm on Sunday (6th November) at a property on Timberley Lane.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: “When crews arrived, the building was well alight and a nearby road had to be closed for safety because of drifting smoke.

“At one stage during the firefighting operation we withdrew from inside the building because some of the roof had collapsed.

“By 6.50pm they had made good progress in bringing it under control and, by 8.30pm, we had started to scale down the resources at the scene.”
