Coventry will be welcoming some royal guests today.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be opening a £59 million training centre for medical staff at Coventry University.

The new facilities will allow students to learn how to care for patients at every part of their medical journey, from the ambulance through to rehabilitation at home.

William and Kate will tour the University’s new science and health building during a day in Coventry to celebrate the city’s history, people and heritage.

They will meet students and follow the journey of a fictional patient through the various areas of speciality taught at the centre where they will visit a paramedic ambulance simulator, an operating theatre, rehabilitation area and adapted living houses.

The royal couple will also visit Coventry Cathedral and meet with members of the organisation, Positive Youth Foundation.

The foundation works with young people who find themselves living in challenging circumstances, from those excluded from school to others at risk from a range of social issues.
