Defender Chris Samba has signed a one-year deal with Aston Villa.
The former Blackburn Rovers man has been on trial with the club and appeared in pre-season friendlies against Walsall and Telford.
The 33-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Greek side Panathinaikos in January.
He told the club’s website: “I have enjoyed my time with Aston Villa and I am very pleased to continue this association after signing my contract with the club.”
As well as his time at Blackburn, Samba also had a brief spell in England with Queens Park Rangers.
