Andrew Pierce, who worked for the Birmingham Mail during the early part of his career, will return to the city to help decide the winners in the annual event which sees journalists, broadcasters and photographers battling out for honours.

As well as writing regular columns in the Daily Mail, Andrew has also been a regular commentator on Sky News.

He said: “Having started my career in the Midlands, it is always a pleasure to return to the region, which has always been a hotbed for news and a breeding ground for producing journalists of the highest calibre.”

Press Club president Bob Warman announced Andrew’s decision to act as chairman of the judging panel at the official launch this year’s awards.

“Andrew has been a staunch supporter of the Press Club over a number of years and we are delighted he is able to contribute to the success of the awards once again,” Bob said.

This year will also see seven of the 16 categories open to college and university students.

The awards will take place on November 2 at Canalside in The Cube. A full list of categories is available on the Midlands Media Awards website.
