A report outlining proposals for the Library of Birmingham and the Birmingham Rep to enter into a commercial agreement will go before Birmingham City Council’s Cabinet on July 25th.

The arrangement, which would begin in October, would see the two sites working together to promote conferencing and hospitality opportunities.

Cllr Ian Ward, deputy leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for the Library of Birmingham and Birmingham Repertory Theatre to work together creatively to provide a truly unique facility.

“This partnership will enable us to protect and invest in services within the Library and further strengthens our relationship with our colleagues at the Rep.”

The jointly-commissioned report says the move could allow both venues to generate further income by operating a combined management approach.
