Staff at 35 Birmingham schools will vote on potential strike action next week, a union has confirmed.

GMB said the move was in relation to delays in resolving equal pay issues which have dogged local council finances.

The full list of schools involved are:

Alice Reynolds, GMB Organiser, said: “Workers in these schools didn’t create this crisis, Birmingham City Council bosses did.

“But it’s our members facing an uncertain future and a council leaving them in the dark on settling claims for equal pay.

“Now they’ll have their say on strike action to finally force Birmingham City Council to take seriously their demand to end this crisis.”
