Heart of England NHS Trust has introduced new machinery to aid diagnosis and treatment.

Endoscopy involves a flexible tube with a camera being inserted into the body to investigate stomach, bladder and intestinal problems.

Marcus Mottershead, consultant gastroenterologist and clinical director for gastroenterology at the trust, said: “We have been working towards achieving this essential investment for several years and are delighted to finally see the new kit up and running across our hospitals.

“A huge amount of patients from across the region are benefitting and we are pleased to treat them with the safest and most up-to-date equipment whilst they are in our care. This investment has also had a significant positive impact on our clinical teams who are performing with the best tools on the market.

“We are currently proud to be the only trust in the region with this level of endoscopy resource and infrastructure.”
