A Birmingham MP is trying to find out how poverty and low income impacts on people in his constituency.

Liam Byrne is carrying out a survey involving households in the Hodge Hill area where their income is less than £13,000.

The Labour MP says the results will help him fight for a better deal for local residents.

“Our community is one of the poorest in Britain,” he said. “I am updating my research into the causes of poverty and low income.

“The results will guide my work and campaigning effort over the course of the Parliament.”

People can fill in the survey online.
