A banking group has appointed a new ambassador to help address challenges facing communities in the Midlands.
Andrew Asaam will take up the role with Lloyds Banking Group, having been the company’s homes director.
The post will see him work with local politicians, business leaders, communities and charities, with a focus on exploring ways of helping people in the region access affordable and sustainable housing.
Other aspects of the role will involve championing small business and promoting the value of skills and apprenticeships.
Birmingham-born Andrew said: “As a proud Midlander, I’m really honoured to have been asked to take on this role because our region has so much to be shouting about.
“We have a long history of innovation which continues today – not least in our advanced manufacturing technology and health and life sciences sectors – and we’re also building on our strong automotive heritage, as electric vehicles and Birmingham’s clean air zone push us forward on the road to net zero.
“The Midlands’ place in the heart of England makes it central to the success of the UK. I’m really looking forward to working with other leaders in the region to help bolster growth and attract investment.”
