Birmingham local talks about Channel 4

The Government has launched a consultation regarding Channel 4’s relocation outside London. The Mayor of West Midlands, Andy Street has been vocal about attracting the broadcaster to relocate its headquarters to Birmingham and launched a campaign for the same.

It has received ample of support over social media where the locals have shared their point of views regarding Birmingham being the best choice for the broadcaster.

Birmingham Eastside got in touch with a few locals to ask them about what makes their city a good choice for Channel 4 and the response remained positive.

Simon, a Digbeth based Housing agent said the second city has a lot to offer such as,

“Great shooting locations, great actors and a lot of support”

Despite other contenders such as Leeds, Liverpool, the West Midlands is surely getting more support. The second city recently also bagged the honour of being the host city for the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Another Birmingham local and channel 4 follower, Celia said,

“It’s accessible. It has a lot of culture and it will be good for jobs.”

The multicultural nature of the city is being considered to be one of biggest selling points to attract the broadcaster, promising a diverse local audience.
