Birmingham City face tough trip to Ipswich Town on opening day of the EFL Championship season

Birmingham City will travel to Ipswich Town on the opening day of the 17/18 EFL Championship season.

Harry Redknapp will be looking to lead a real resurgence at St Andrews’s this season, but leaving Portman Road on August 5th with all three points will be no easy task.

Like Birmingham, the Tractor Boys will be looking to improve upon a fairly disappointing campaign last season, which saw them finish in 16th place, and only four points above the drop done.

Blues fans will be looking forward to October 28th in particular, which will see the visit of fierce city rivals Aston Villa, and an opportunity for Harry

Redknapp to lead them to their first league victory over Steve Bruce’s side in 12 years.

Birmingham’s last league triumph over Villa came back in March 2005, with Emile Heskey and Julian Gray on target in a famous 2-0 win at St Andrews.

The corresponding away fixture is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on March 10th.

Redknapp’s side will also face Midlands rivals Wolves at home on December 2nd, wth the away fixture penned in for April 14th. And the season will conclude with Fulham’s visit to the Second City on May 6th.
