Uncollected bins in Birmingham

Good news at last after 2017 was dominated by bin strikes and poor weather conditions that left residents without waste collections.

Birmingham City Council says it will offer a discount of £12 on the yearly fee for green waste collection to all residents affected by the industrial action of 2017. The £40 fee waiver will only apply to those who reported 3 consecutive weeks of miscollections to the council.

Speaking to BBC West Midlands, Jacqui Kennedy (Director of Waste Services at Birmingham City Council) said that “We needed people to report if they had miscollections. If people had reported 3 consecutive weeks of green waste not collected then we would compensate them.”
