A group of violent Birmingham carjackers have had their prison terms almost doubled after West Midlands Police and the CPS appealed the leniency of their sentences. Carjackers Sarweeth Rehman, 22, and Hussun Ashraf, 22, were convicted for assaulting motorists with golf clubs, baseball bats or metal bars, before stealing the victims’ high-end cars. A third man, Adam Azal, 22, was also arrested for his role in using a tow truck to steal seven cars. Representatives of Zara’s Bar attended a licensing committee meeting on Monday to try to regain their previously suspended licence, but the council chose to uphold the suspension.
