Aston Villa’s Gary Gardner has joined Barnsley on loan.
The midfielder will join the Tykes unit the end of the season.
His departure comes after he dropped down the pecking order at Villa Park following the arrival of the likes of Josh Onomah and Glenn Whelan during the summer.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom told the club’s website his side had secured a proven Championship talent.
“We’re really pleased with the signing of Gary,” he said. “He’s an important addition to give us greater flexibility within the squad and we look forward to working with him.
“He is going to help us this season and we’re definitely looking forward to that as well.”
