Aston Villa have completed a deal for Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan.
The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland international has signed a two year-deal at Villa Park.
His arrival follows that of Ahmed Elmohamady who completed his move from Hull City yesterday.
Whelan told the club’s official website that he hoped to be back in the top flight sooner rather than later.
“We may be in the Championship but everything about this club screams Premier League,” he said. “It’s the job of the players to get us back up there.
