Timm Sonnenschein produces photographic work informed by a search for social and political justice. He said in an interview

The exhibition is the selection of images of issues that I photographed between 2005 and 2015, in relation to student protests it was a burning issue when the University fees was increased and effected whole generation of students but now it has become the piece of documentation that reflects the historical background.

He has been using photography as a tool to create insightful and critical observations of social awareness and change.

As a researcher Sonnenschein is exploring what position and shape empathy takes and how it is experienced within social and political documentary photography.

This whole set up is set to open a dialogue in question on the post structure that brought about with the particular setup of images of university fees or sense of images is questioning races and gender in term of Islamophobia.

Sonnenschein is a German born documentary photographer. He has lived and worked in Birmingham for over 17 years.

He is a lecturer in photography at Birmingham City University as well as a member of the National Union of Journalists.
