The Samaritans have five pieces of advice if you’re wondering what you can do on ‘the most depressing day of the year’.

    1. Talk about your feelings.

Take some time to talk about your feelings with someone you trust.

    2. Catch up with someone you’ve not seen for a while.

When was the last time you had a conversation with your neighbour?

    3. Be aware of people around you.

Is one of your colleagues having a bad day? Invite them for a drink and a chat.

    4. Volunteer.

There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with the Samaritans and you’ll get to meet lots of new and interesting people.

    5. Have a cup of tea.

As the saying goes – there’s nothing a cup of tea can’t fix.

If you need to speak to someone you can call or email Birmingham Samaritans.
