Stafford Town’s manager has claimed his team must be perfect defensively as they host play-off challengers Alsager Town this weekend.

The Evans Park club currently sit in tenth, but only one win in their previous five means they must improve against tough opposition.

The visitors, however, have amassed 11 points from a possible 15 in their most recent fixtures. They will be hoping to close the gap on the clubs currently sitting in the play-off spots.

Stafford Town manager Adam Wall said: “Every game in this league is a test.

“Alsager are a tough hard-working team who score a lot of goals.  We will have to be defensively perfect to make sure we have the best chance to get a positive result.”

A win for Stafford will propel them into the mix for those play-off spots, making this a huge game for both sides.

But Wall feels that his side is not under the same pressure as his opponents.

“Every point from here is important as we are now looking to finish as high as we can” he said.

“Alsager certainly have a better chance than us for those play-offs, but we are without pressure and looking to play with a smile of our faces and enjoy our run in.”

Stafford Town will be without Taylor Draper (away), Jayden Hunter (suspended), Ben Herrington and Jake Cartwright (both injured).
