Almost half of the theatres within a leading theatre group have female directors, according to an analysis of data by Birmingham Eastside.
The analysis looked at 24 theatres outside of London within the Ambassador Theatre Group — a household name in the theatre industry. Of the 24 directors, 11 are women.
The Ambassador Theatre Group, officially called The Ambassador Theatre Group Entertainment operates 64 venues across Britain, the US and Germany, with 38 venues across the UK.
It processes more than 16 million tickets a year for musicals, plays, concerts, comedy shows and a variety of other live events.
