Birmingham City have surrendered their unbeaten home record with a defeat against Preston North End.
St Andrew’s had not witnessed a defeat so far this season, but a 23rd minute strike from Sean Maguire was enough to separate the two sides.
Blues had a penalty shout waved away with an hour played after a cross struck a Preston defender – and they thought they’d levelled on 79 minutes when Alvaro Gimenez’s strike was ruled out for offside.
But it wasn’t to be, with City now needing to regroup before they travel to Derby County on 28th September.
