Iroegbunam the man to watch for Villa showdown

Birmingham Mail’s West Bromwich Albion expert believes Tim Iroegbunam is the ‘one to watch’ as the u18s prepare to take on Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup semi-final next month.

Joe Chapman was speaking following Albion’s quarter-final victory over Everton.

He said: “Tim Iroegbunam is one to watch in midfield going forward, the club are really excited by him and I can see why.

“He’s only 18 but he’s been playing in the 23s for Deon Burton this season.” said Chapman.

“Tim is Albion’s number 8, a real box-to-box player and he carries the ball really well.

“He has an eye for goal too with two goals and an assist in four games in the FA Youth Cup.

“In short, you can see why the club like the look of him and understand their hopes that he can go on to achieving at least a first team look in the future.”

Villa’s under 18s will be coming into this game full of confidence after dismantling Newcastle 6-1 in the quarter final.

    Chapman spoke about their threat.

He added: “Villa are really talented too; they beat Albion 6-4 only the other week and then scored 6 again against Newcastle so they have goals in their team.

“It ought to be a really decent test for Albion, the challenge is there to go one better than the team in 2019 and reach the final.”
