West Bromwich Albion Women striker Niamh Deasy says she is enjoying her time at the club so far after signing for the Baggies back in December.

The 27-year-old joined made the move from Stourbridge after netting 33 goals in 46 appearances for the Glassgirls.

And she’ll be hoping to add to her personal tally in the second half of the season as she continues to settle at Albion.

Deasy said: “I’m enjoying it. The level of professionalism is different to what I have experienced so far in my football career.

“It is great to be at this level associated with some fantastic players and experienced coaching staff.”

West Brom’s women are currently one place below Deasy’s old team Stourbridge in the table, although they do have a game in hand where a win will take the blue and white outfit above her former side.

She said: “I loved my time at Stourbridge – their culture and togetherness was second to none.

“But to have the opportunity to experience West Brom’s provision was a real pull factor.

“It’s a big club, with even better things to come in the future.

“I think our aim is to consolidate a solid position in the league and push on next season to establish a mid to high table finish.”

Niamh is also a curriculum director at secondary school Q3 Academy Langley alongside her football.

“I find it extremely challenging,” she said. “It is difficult to manage both work and football.

“I am very career driven and will always give 100% to anything I put my mind to.

“It is important though to think about my wellbeing, so diet, social time and time with family and friends helps me to manage it.”

West Brom face Wolves in the Black Country derby as the two sides meet in the semi-final of the Birmingham County FA Challenge Cup today (18th February).

But Deasy will be unable to feature having played in the competition for her former club earlier in the season.

Due to playing in the same cup for Stourbridge earlier in the season however, Deasy is unfortunately cup tied.

Wolves currently sit in sixth place – four positions above the Baggies – but have not won in their last five outings.

But Deasy believes the derby will be a tough test for her team-mates.

“The game is huge, but ultimately Wolves are a high performing team,” she said.

“Having played in the final last year against them, they have a fantastic set up and will always do well.

“Everyone is always up for a challenge.”

The match will kick off at 2pm at New Bucks Head stadium.
