ELECTION 2019 – The battle for Birmingham: Hodge Hill

By Jovita Strolyte on November 12, 2019 General Election 2019, News

At the moment, Liam Byrne, for the Labour party, is the only candidate vying for people’s vote.

There is no news yet on who the Conservative or Liberal Democrats might field or whether the Greens will stand.

With it being such a ‘safe’ seat, will any other party put up a fight?

Byrne has been the MP for Hodge Hill, ever since he won a tightly fought by-election in 2004.

He lives in Birmingham with his wife Sarah and their children. He is a board member of the Great Britain China Centre, a governor of the Institute of Government and has had numerous roles in parliament, including the Home Office, Cabinet and Treasury.

He was born in Warrington and graduated Politics and Modern History at Manchester University. He is also a Distinguished Honorary Fellow of the University of Birmingham.

I want our country to be a land where we don't have homelessness, foodbanks and poverty pay any more. Can you chip in to help us win Hodge Hill for Labour?https://t.co/9mhdMOFr4m
