Eggington looking to bounce back after controversial loss

Sam Eggington is looking to get his career back on track after losing on a controversial points decision to Ted Cheeseman in August.

The Stourbridge-born boxer, who boasts a record of 28-7, is set to fight Ashley Theophane on December 11th. Theophane, who turned 40 in August, has hinted this is the last fight of his career. The London-born boxer was once a sparring partner of Floyd Mayweather Jr, with the American superstar once buying him a Chrysler 300 for ‘doing so well in the ring’.

Eggington talked to Boxing Social about his controversial loss against Cheeseman, he said: “If I had won and people thought I should’ve lost, I definitely would’ve run it back. I wouldn’t want people to think I got away with one.

“We definitely deserve more money but I don’t know how much money he (Cheeseman) was asking for. He’s asking for too much money for Eddie (Hearn) to say it’s too much. It’s irritating because it could be a big fight.”
