Chart showing drink driving top offence, followed by assault (3), public order and fraud (2)

Drink driving offences have been revealed to make up more than 20% of prior convictions disclosed by currently serving West Midlands Police officers.

Figures released earlier this month by the police force Freedom of Information team detailed as many as 24 ‘taint offences’ committed by staff throughout their service.

The highest ranking of these offences was drink driving, with 5 officers charged (20.8%), with assault being the second with 3 recorded offences (12.5%).

Fraud and public order were joint in third on the list with 2 records on each (8.3%).
