A Birmingham charity has been given a boost thanks to the recycling efforts of a university.

The old computer and electronic equipment from Birmingham City University helped to raise £277 for Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid (BSWA).

Working with SE Recycling, an electronics specialist supplier, the university has now donated more than £6,900 to BSWA over the past four years.

Simon Chow, IT collections manager at SE Recycling, said, “The funds stand as a true testament to the great work that can be achieved between industry and academia.

“It also emphasises the positive influence recycling can have not only on environmental sustainability but local community enrichment too.”

All the money donated helps BSWA with their goal of supporting women affected by abuse and advocating for the rights of women.

Donna Harrison, assistant director of estates and facilities at Birmingham City University, said, “We take our social responsibilities very seriously, so we’re pleased to be working with an ethical company like SE Recycling, which has sustainability at its core.

“We’re even happier that our partnership with them has raised money for the vitally important work of BSWA.”
