A festival in Birmingham has been raising awareness of mental health through various art pieces.

The Bedlam Arts and Mental Health Festival has taken place at venues such as the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, MAC Birmingham and Cannon Hill Park.

It has featured performances and exhibitions with the aim of breaking taboos and getting people talking.

Festival organiser Steve Ball said: “It’s an opportunity for us to explore the role that art plays in mental health and wellbeing.

“We know that arts have major benefits in exploring issues to do with mental health, but also in promoting wellbeing amongst people who are suffering from mental health issues.

“This has been a chance to get people talking about mental health and begin to tackle the stigma that still exists with society at large.”

It’s the sixth year the Bedlam Arts and Mental Health Festival has been held.
