Madama Butterfly is the latest offering in the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series.

It will show at Cineworld in Solihull and on Broad Street on 9th November.

The story revolves around a young Japanese geisha who clings to the belief that her arrangement with a visiting American naval officer is a loving and permanent marriage.

A spokesperson said: “Leading soprano Hui He sings the title role of the doomed geisha, with tenor Andrea Carè as the American naval officer who abandons her.

“Plácido Domingo makes his role debut as Sharpless.
