In the town council’s 2019/20 accounts, out of its £1.86m annual budget, £1.3m was spent on local services, leaving £0.5m budgeted for spending unspent. Home Office data revealed that more than 27,000 false alarm incidents were recorded by the fire and rescue service for WMFS, covering the three recent financial years (2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20).
