Matty Le, the captain of the mixed martial arts (MMA) society at University of Birmingham(UOB), is confident the sport is ready to be adopted by the governing body of all university sports, BUCS. This comes after seven universities competed in a large scale MMA competition organised by UOB, at the H suite last Sunday. Competing in it were; the University of Birmingham, the University of Bristol, the University of Nottingham, University College London, York University, Cardiff University and Oxford university. Nearly £20,000 has been raised for charity from a boxing event organised by a Birmingham gym.  The event was organised by the charity Ultra Events and the Sutton Coldfield gym, Boudica Boxing, taking place at Aston Villa’s Holte suite on March 26. A total of £18,302 was raised by volunteers, which was donated to Cancer Research UK. In a series of white-collar boxing bouts, novice volunteers from across Birmingham had the chance to train and fight for charity. An NHS Women’s Mental Healthcare Assistant in Birmingham outlined just how in danger the mental health services are.
