The Library of Birmingham will feature on a new set of stamps.
The building features in the Royal Mail’s celebration of ten iconic UK buildings.
Designed by Francine Houben, the ten-storey building is wrapped in bands of gold and silver cladding.
Cllr Ian Ward, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “It has become an iconic part of the city’s skyline and it attracts visitors from around the city, the UK and the world who come to see our Shakespeare collection, beautiful terraces and admire its architecture. I’m thrilled Royal Mail recognise it as a landmark building.
“The fact that the Library of Birmingham is included in this series of stamps seals the city’s national and international reputation – Birmingham is now officially first class.”
Other images on the stamps include the London Aquatics Centre, the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow, the Eden Project, the Tate Modern and the Giants’ Causeway Visitor Centre in Northern Ireland.

I think the new Library of Birmingham is a great, interesting building.Mind you I think that they should have put a statue of Birmingham’s finest writer JRR Tolkien outside the new Library instead of that awful statue of a so-called ‘Birmingham Family’ which is absolute rubbish with NO husband/father/male role model….isn’t that a proper family?
