A man from Quinton has been jailed after taking laptops and a silver BMW during a burglary in Smethwick.
Wayne Greene broke into a property on 25th May, but police were able to track the vehicle to Whitley Court Road where it had been abandoned.
CCTV from the victim’s property and others nearby were used to identify the 40-year-old and place him at the scene.
Greene pleaded guilty was jailed for two years and eight months at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
PC William Moore said: “We know the impact burglaries have on the community and no one should feel unsafe in their own home.
“Greene was identified by some really good CCTV footage in the area and we were able to quickly locate, arrest and charge him with theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.
“I hope this sentencing offers residents some reassurance that we are committed to doing all we can to make sure those responsible for burglaries are held to justice.”
