Solihull Moors striker Adam Rooney scored the only goal of the game on his return to the side to secure all three points at home to Boreham Wood on Saturday.
The Moors were dealt a cruel blow early on as midfielder Darren Carter was giving his marching orders after a late tackle produced his second yellow card.
It was an uphill battle from here on but Jimmy Shan’s side dug in to see the first-half out at 0-0.
With fifteen minutes to play Rooney latched onto a loose ball and fired a shot across Boreham Wood’s keeper and into the net.
The second-half goal from the returning striker assured victory for Jimmy Shan’s ten-man side.
Aston Villa loanee Cameron Archer made a late substitute appearance to get his Moors campaign underway.
Attacking midfielder Joe Sbarra was influential throughout, in an interview with Birmingham Eastside he said: “It was a fantastic win, especially in the circumstances, unfortunately going down to 10 men.”
“We worked our socks off and grafted for 75 minutes for that one moment where ‘Roons’ showed his quality, and we got the win against a good Boreham Wood side. Everyone played their part and was a great win to be a part of,” he added.
Up next for the Moors is an FA Cup fourth qualifying match on Saturday 24 October with Wrexham.
