West Midlands Stories – episode 12

West Midlands Stories is a collection of documentaries and features produced by students from the Birmingham School of Media.

The final episode in this series of West Midlands Stories focuses on the difficult subject of drug and alcohol addiction – listener discretion is advised.

The first three stories examine issues of alcohol abuse, with features produced by Dan Collins, Nigel Gumley and Amar Masonde. We then hear about the movement to legalise marijuana and finally, a feature about homelessness.

The series draws together an eclectic range of stories from across the West Midlands, tackling contemporary issues, introducing unique characters and showcasing the region’s rich cultural history.

The first season of West Midlands Stories was broadcast in 2012 on Switch 107.5 in Castle Vale, North Birmingham and went on to win the Bronze award in the Community Radio category of the New York Radio Awards.

The series has now relocated to Birmingham Eastside Radio, with an all-new season of documentaries, hosted by Matt Barnard and Georgia Price.
