By Birmingham Eastside on September 27, 2018 Audio, West Midlands Stories

West Midlands Stories is a collection of documentaries and features produced by students from the Birmingham School of Media.

This opening episode starts by exploring the creative past, present and future of Digbeth. It then looks at the rising cost of being a football fan, as well as finding good homes for dogs – and the pastime known as ‘LARP’ing.

The series draws together an eclectic range of stories from across the West Midlands, tackling contemporary issues, introducing unique characters and showcasing the region’s rich cultural history.

The first season of West Midlands Stories was broadcast in 2012 on Switch 107.5 in Castle Vale, North Birmingham and went on to win the Bronze award in the Community Radio category of the New York Radio Awards.

The series has now relocated to Birmingham Eastside Radio, with an all-new season of documentaries, hosted by Matt Barnard and Georgia Price.
