An event bringing together doctors, scientists and charities is set to explore the second city’s pollution policies this evening

An event called ‘Clean Air for All’ takes place in Birmingham tonight. Organised by Dr Margaret O’Hara from University Hospitals Birmingham, the evening will explore the different types of pollution that we breathe every day, the health risks and how this puts pressure on our healthcare services.

The night will consist of a mixture of presentations and interactive sessions. There will also be time for discussion and networking.

Attendees can expect to give their views on what can be done both individually and collectively to improve air quality.

Speakers include:

  • Dr Margaret O’Hara: Involvement in Research Lead, University Hospitals Birmingham
  • Lawrence Tallon, Director of Corporate Strategy, Planning & Performance, University Hospitals Birmingham
  • Dr Suzanne Bartington, Clinical Research Fellow in Environmental Health, University of Birmingham
  • Phillippa Hentsch, Head of Strategy & Analysis, University Hospitals Birmingham
  • Professor William Bloss, Professor of Atmospheric Science, University of Birmingham
  • Sandra Green, Campaign Network Coordinator, British Lung Foundation

Refreshments will be provided – people are advised to bring along a reusable mug to reduce waste.

The event will take place Wednesday 20th November from 18:00-21:00.

Admission to the event is free, register online to get a place. It will be held in Lecture Theatre 3, Level 1 of Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
