Environmental activists have been invited to an open meeting in Birmingham to discuss a radically improved integrated transport system.

The open meeting for a ‘Green Travel Taskforce’ starts at 6.30pm today (22nd October) at Impact Hub Birmingham.

The taskforce is based on recommendations made in Birmingham Connected, a 2014 White Paper about the city’s long-term vision for transport.

The group will have a strategic oversight on how the council engages with stakeholders, including through regular groups such as the Local Access Forum and the Birmingham Cycle Revolution (BCR) Stakeholders Advisory Group. There will also be targeted engagement for specific projects.

One of the issues that they will be looking at is how to engage with local communities about green travel projects.

Northfield councillor Olly Armstrong is chairing the meeting.
