Former Aston Villa defender John Terry has announced his retirement from playing – fuelling rumours he could be part of the club’s new management team.
The ex-Chelsea and England man made his final appearances as a professional in claret and blue after a season-long stint in B6 last year.
But despite offers from overseas, Terry has opted to hang up his boots. He confirmed the news in a post on Instagram.

Terry’s retirement has sparked rumours that he could become the new assistant manager at the club alongside former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, who has emerged as a frontrunner for the vacant role.
Villa are looking for a new manager following their decision to sack Steve Bruce after a poor start to the Championship season.
