A Birmingham community group working to keep local streets clean is calling on residents to join their latest litter pick.
The Friends of Bradford Street collected more than 150 bags of rubbish from streets around Digbeth last year alone.
People are invited to join their next litter pick 16th March. The group will meet near The Anchor at 11am.
Shane, the founder of The Friends of Bradford Street, said: “The idea is that we get together and have a monthly litter pick and clean the streets but also we could build a sense of community.
“We want to do our bit, however we obviously know that we can’t fix it.”
Shane said the group said that while it was doing what it could to keep local streets clean, more help was needed to tackle the root of the problem.
“There are occasions where people just leave bags on the street and of course, the rats or seagulls will open the bags and then the wind comes -before you know it, the litter is gone.
“We are really sympathetic about the situation the council is in, this is why we are trying not to ask much of them.”
