An abandoned kitten has been adopted by a new family after being left outside a building at Birmingham City University.

The tabby – believed to be five or six weeks old – was left at University House with in a basket.
He was taken in by staff member Simon Pettifor before going to a vet for a medical check-up.
There was no identification or microchip for the newly-named Simba, so the cat has now been adopted by friends of assistant university secretary Helen Matthews.
Helen said: “It’s great news that we’ve been able to rescue Simba and give him a new home where he’ll get lots of fuss and attention.
“While Simba’s visit to University House generated a lot of smiles, it’s incredibly sad that someone thought it okay to abandon him in this way in the centre of a busy city.”
