The general manager of Broad Street’s Cineworld will soon be responsible for major movie premieres after landing a job running the flagship Leicester Square cinema in London.

Paul Millington has put together a number of red carpet events in his 10 years running the Birmingham cinema, including The Lorax, Skyfall and Fifty Shades of Grey, with stars such as Danny DeVito and Tom Hardy in attendance.

The Birmingham-born boss said he was delighted to be given the chance to take on the iconic cinema.

“I am thrilled to be the new General Manager of Leicester Square,” he said. “I have always pushed opportunities to film distributions to bring major premieres to Birmingham and now I will be in charge of the world premieres in the capital city.

“After being at the Birmingham chain for 10 years I will be sad to leave, but working in the capital on all major film events is the dream.

“It will bring better prospects and ever better opportunities and I can’t wait to get started.”
