Isaiah Young-Sam in Birmingham was stabbed on October 22nd, 2005, in the Lozells area of the city as he made his way home from a trip to the cinema with friends.

Three men were convicted over his death but were later acquitted on appeal.

But now Isaiah’s mother Murna McLean is pleading with those who know the truth about her son’s murder to speak out.

“My family and I continue to live with the devastating consequences of what happened,” she said. “I still struggle to this day to find the words to express our sorrow and pain.

“I’m appealing directly to the perpetrators who are responsible and those who are shielding them for any information that you may have – do the decent thing please.

“We desperately need to get the justice that Isaiah so deserves and give our family some form of closure.”

The case is now being looked at again by West Midlands Police’s review team.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Dunn said: “No case is ever closed and we are committed to periodically reviewing all evidence to explore any new lines of enquiry, particularly when advancing technology brings new opportunities.

“We will be re-examining all the forensic evidence that was collected during this investigation and, meanwhile, we would urge anyone who knows what happened that day to examine their conscience and do the right thing − call us.”

Anyone with information can contact the review team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
